- 1 1/3 cup warm water (between 105-110 degrees F) (319 ml)
- 1 tsp water for egg wash (5 ml)

- 1 egg and 1 tsp water for egg wash

- 3 1/2 - 4 cups all purpose flour (start with 3 1/2, add 1/2 more if needed) (438 g)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (30 ml)
- 1 tbsp sugar (15 ml)
- 2 tsp active dry yeast (10 ml)
🧂Spices & Seasonings(1)
- 2 tsp salt (10 ml)

Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl and let it sit for 10 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, add olive oil, flour, salt, and the yeast mixture. Knead for about five minutes.

Add olive oil to a bowl and let the dough rest covered for one hour.

After it has doubled in size, punch the air out and dump it onto a clean surface.

Cut the dough into four equal pieces, fold the ends in, pinch the bottom, and roll into smooth balls.

Place the dough balls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let rest for 30 more minutes.

Score a little X on top of each ball and brush with egg wash.

Bake at 425°F for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Let them cool for a couple of hours, then cut a circle along the top and hollow out the inside.
