- 2 tsp dried mixed herbs (10 ml)
🥩Meat & Seafood(2)
- 1 tbsp vg chicken seasoning (15 ml)
- sheets of dried tofu skin (also called bean curd)
🫙Pantry Staples(2)
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast (30 ml)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (15 ml)
🧂Spices & Seasonings(2)
- or 1 tsp garlic powder/onion powder (5 ml)optionalonion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika + white pepper (2.5 ml)
🍯Sauces & Condiments(1)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (15 ml)
📦Other(1)
- vegetable stuffing
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Hydrate the stuffing then leave it to firm up before rolling into a log. Add nuts, dried fruit etc if feeling fancy.
- 2
Hydrate your tofu sheets, allow to dry then wrap around the stuffing log. If you wrap one by one you will get a tighter more even roll.
- 3
Coat in hydrated rice paper, then in the seasoning and bake until crispy, coating in more seasoning as you go.
- 4
Serve with a roast dinner, with plenty of gravy and enjoy!
💡 Pro Tips
- ✓Hydrate tofu sheets in lukewarm water (95-105°F) for exactly 30-45 seconds - longer creates tears while shorter leaves stiff spots that crack during rolling.technique95-105°F, 30-45 seconds
- ✓Pat tofu sheets to 85% dryness before wrapping because excess moisture creates steam pockets that cause uneven cooking and soggy spots.technique85% dryness
- ✓Let your stuffing mixture rest for 15-20 minutes after hydrating so proteins can fully absorb liquid and bind properly, preventing crumbling during slicing.timing15-20 minutes
- ✓Bake at 375°F and rotate every 12-15 minutes while basting with oil or broth to ensure even browning and prevent the rice paper coating from burning.timing375°F, every 12-15 minutes
- ✓Brush rice paper with a light oil layer before applying seasoning because dry rice paper won't hold spices effectively and creates uneven flavor distribution.technique
