💡 Pro Tips
- ✓Toast the basmati rice in the rendered chicken fat for 2-3 minutes before adding stock to create a protective starch coating that prevents mushiness and maintains grain separation.technique2-3 minutes
- ✓Use a 1.5:1 liquid-to-rice ratio for basmati in one-pot dishes because the grains will continue absorbing moisture from other ingredients during the covered cooking phase.ingredient1.5:1 ratio
- ✓Cook the rice at exactly 20% power (or lowest simmer) once covered because higher heat creates steam pockets that cook unevenly and make rice gummy.timing20% power
- ✓Let the dish rest off-heat for 5 minutes before fluffing because residual steam finishes cooking the top layer and prevents broken grains when stirring.timing5 minutes
- ✓Position your oven rack 6 inches from the broiler element so cheese melts completely before the surface burns, achieving optimal browning in 3-4 minutes.equipment6 inches, 3-4 minutes
